We had the privilege to attend the Wisconsin District Conventions
and Assembly this past week. What an amazing time we had! Dr.
Eugenio Duarte, one of the six General Superintendents of the
Church of the Nazarene, was with us.

He gave a message from John 21:1-12. This is when the disciples
were fishing and had caught nothing all night. I imagine that they
were very discouraged at this time, they had worked extremely
hard all night and had nothing to show for it. Jesus asked them if
they have caught any fish, “no” the disciples replied. Jesus told
them to “throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will
find some.” They had so many fish that they could not put the net
in their boat, they had to tow it to shore!

The disciples caught nothing – and they admitted it! We need to
admit that we are nothing before God does something in us. The
disciples were not successful until they obeyed the Master and
when they did they had a huge catch. Dr. Duarte reminded us
that without Jesus we are nothing. Without God leading and guiding
we will not be successful.

So, how are you doing? Have you caught any fish lately? Let’s be
determined that we will obey the Master Fisherman! Without
Him…we are nothing!
